Before venturing into intellectual property, Sophie worked in healthcare in the UK and Malaysia. She has experience in both retail and clinical pharmacy. Her past research work includes chemical synthesis for gene therapy and computational analysis of gene regulation.

At TRADEMARK2U, Sophie is responsible for overseeing the patent search, drafting and prosecution work of the patent department. She consults for clients on issues pertaining to patents and innovation, particularly in bioscience. She also assists clients with devising appropriate R&D strategies in response to legal and commercial challenges. Her technical specialisation is in pharmaceutical formulation design, advanced drug delivery, cosmeceuticals, natural products and pharmaceutical biotechnology.

Sophie regularly conducts workshops on intellectual property for local university researchers. Working with the public and private sectors, she has delivered seminars on the Malaysian and international patent systems.

Prior to joining TRADEMARK2U, Hui Lee began her career working with a multinational OEM company in the semiconductor industry. As a quality assurance engineer, she was responsible for liaising with international clients such as Seagate and Western Digital.

At TRADEMARK2U, Hui Lee advises clients on a variety of patent issues, especially those relating to patent application and prosecution. With her commercial chemical laboratory experience, she provides technical expertise on theoretical and practical analytical methods used in the chemical industry. She oversees the filing of both national and international patent applications, coordinating our efforts with our counterparts in Jakarta and Bangkok.

Hui Lee also conducts patent workshops and participates in national exhibitions to promote the field of intellectual property. She has delivered seminars on topics relating to patent search and drafting for scientists at local research institutions.

Sammantha has experience in natural products R&D, particularly product registration and licensing of traditional Chinese medicines (TCM) and pharmaceutical product. She was also involved in mechanical polymer engineering product research. Besides that, she has worked in the printing and food manufacturing industries.

At TRADEMARK2U, Sammantha manages various international patent applications and is responsible for filing international patent applications under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). She is experienced in patent search, drafting and prosecution in both domestic and foreign jurisdictions. Besides her focus on patents, she also advises clients on applications for new plant varieties protection (PVP).

Sammantha also conducts seminar on several patent-related topics for scientists at local research institutions to promote the field of intellectual property.

Stephy's research experience is in the field of protein profiling. She is therefore familiar with essential biological techniques such as protein extraction, purification and gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). As a trained biologist, her insight is invaluable when advising clients on biological-based inventions.

Aside from her area of expertise, Stephy also works closely with inventors from a wide range of technical fields including chemistry, construction and mechanical engineering. She assists clients with identifying potential areas of patentability and improvement in relation to patent prosecution. She is further responsible for patent search and drafting, with a special focus on bioscience and biotechnological inventions.

Jia Woei is a geneticist with research experience in identifying genetic mutations relating to mitochondrial disorders. She has worked in industry developing in vitro medical devices for human papillomavirus (HPV) testing. She was responsible for the production of molecular diagnostic kits, performing molecular diagnostic tests and quality control to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

While Jia Woei consults on inventions from a variety of technical subjects, her specialisation is in molecular biology and genetic engineering. She conducts in-depth technical and legal analyses to help clients identify areas of patentability. Besides patent information search, she is involved in drafting patent specifications. She is also responsible for filing domestic patent applications, patent renewals and liaising with the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia.

Eric consults for our clients on a variety of patent-related issues, particularly in the field of engineering. He is responsible for conducting patent searches on new inventions as well as patent drafting for new patent applications. He has worked with inventions relating to manufacturing, laboratory instruments, as well as electrical and electronic systems.

His technical expertise is in the areas of chemical engineering, sustainable processing, plant process optimization and equipment design. He also has a great interest in process design and environmental management systems. He has research experience in chemical reactions of catalyst synthesis and conceptual chemical production plant design.
